Okay, today starts week 3 so I took some measurements. Progress is actually pretty good so far. I’m finding times when this is not so bad, times when it’s really challenging and times when I’m quite happy with it. Most of the time, it varies between not so bad to really sucks.
Today, I’m quite happy with it.
I’ve lost 8 pounds so far. More importantly, I’ve lost 2 inches off of my belly and 1 inch from my waist and I’m down 2% in body fat.
I decided to look back at my exercise log since I started weight lifting and I realized I’ve lost almost 6.5% in body fat, 8 (EIGHT!) inches from my belly and waist (wow).
These changes make the point that it’s important to track your progress when doing anything like this. After all this time (almost 9 months) I really hadn’t thought I’d accomplished all that much. Technically, I’ve only lost about 13 pounds. However, what’s really happened is that I’ve lost a bunch of fat and added a bunch of muscle. In fact, doing the math I’ve lost 16 pounds of fat (calculating the difference in BF%). If I’ve only lost a total of 13 pounds but 16 of that is fat, obviously I’ve added some muscle.
That makes for some pretty good progress.
